Land Title Searches
Land title information is required by
municipal, provincial and federal governments, by real estate
companies, utilities, appraisers/assessors, lawyers,
surveyors, oil and gas companies or by individual property
owners and citizens. All land title documents and title information
is public information; however,
The Medicine Hat Licence
Centre can provide you with certified copies of
searches for current, cancelled and historical titles. We can
also request copies of registered documents, plans and other
types of searches from the Land Title Office on behalf of
their customers. All we require to run a search is the legal
land description, title number, or plan, block and lot.
Current title searches will display the current
owner of a parcel of land and show any outstanding registered
interests in the land such as mortgages, caveats and builders'
liens.
Historical Searches
A historical search is requested if the
customer needs to know about cancelled instruments associated
with a current title or if information about a cancelled title
is needed. In order to run a historical title the customer
must provide the title number. If you don't have a title
number you can obtain it by running a current title search
first.
